Location: RAF Waddington International Air Show, England

Date: 2 and 3 July, 2005

Images from the two show days and Monday departures from one of the RAF's largest airshows. The show has suffered with a lack of overseas participants, but this time managed to secure a flying display from a hungarian Air Force MiG-29. Also, in the static was an ultra-rare Australian Navy SH-60 Seahawk. The aircraft had flown up from Portsmouth where it's parent ship was docked for the 200th Anniversary of the Battle of Trafalgar celebrations.

  • Sentry arriving over the BBMF Lancaster.

  • Exotic tails.

  • Tiger-schemed Puma of 230 Squadron.

  • Four Sea Harriers break from echelon before deafening the crowd in the hover

  • Which way is up?

  • Yippee! All those years of trying to get a synchro cross finally end...

  • Will Curtis starred again in his Su.26

  • Just a little rudder required to keep the knife edge.

  • All the wheels managed to stay on the Chinook this time!

  • For many, the highlight of the flying display was the MiG-29 of the Hungarian Air Force.

  • How many Gazelles?

  • A new display from the Typhoon, but still a cracker.

  • 8 Squadron 90th Anniversary colours.

  • Rarely seen in public, the Nimrod R1.

  • The Australian Navy Seahawk hadn't really traveled that far - just from Portsmouth.

  • This shot would have been unthinkable not many years ago.

  • Another view of the Australian Navy Seahawk.

  • Will Curtis opened the show on Sunday morning. Pity, the sun's in completely the wrong position.

  • The 'home team' Sentry landing after the opening flypast.

  • Blue Eagles at rest.

  • A chance to watch the Merlin display from the active side of the airfield was most welcome.

  • Lead aircraft from the Blue Eagles is the Lynx AH7.

  • Merlin shows off to the crowd...

  • ...and then pitches forward

  • If only the really close-up shots had been pin-sharp!
