Helicopters. Although not nearly as exotic as the fixed-wing aircraft, there are one or two gems to be had. Two Australian Army Chinooks top the list, but some 40 or so US Chinooks, Blackhawks and Apaches certainly provided the bulk of the based helos. In late April, the Army Air Corp deployed the first of 8 Apaches for their first ever operational tour. These were supported by a couple of Lynxes. RAF Chinooks provided the bulk of the transport and lift capability for British forces.

Bottom of the page: One of the RAF Chinooks suffered an incident which severely damaged the underside of the aircraft and almost ripped the port undercarriage off. The Chinook was stripped and prepared for it's flight back to the UK and moved by a RTCH (Rough Terrain Container Handler) - the first time this had ever been attempted.
